There was another wave of "tagging" going around so I guess it was inevitable that someone would be desperate enough to tag the Grumpy Bulldog. Or two someones. First up is Jacob Adams on DreamScape.
1.) What is one author you can't refuse?
There aren't any authors anymore that I'll read without question. I got burned on that too many times before.
2.) Do you listen to music while writing or prefer silence?
I always keep my MP3 player around. Especially when writing in a Panera Bread or Starbucks or even a library it helps filter out some of the ambient noise. Also it keeps people from talking to me, though some idiots still try to anyway. I mean if I'm sitting there on my netbook with my headphones are, do you really think I want to blab with you about the weather or whatever? Fuck no. Though it's always annoying when someone else has headphones (or stupid ear buds) that are so loud that I can hear them over my music. I mean are you deaf?
3.) To you, what is the hardest thing about writing?
It's all hard, especially at certain times. The hardest part then might be trying not to suck at it.
4.) What is something that happened in your childhood that influenced your writing today?
Read the Origins blogfest entry
5.) Movie night: Comedy, Sci-Fi, Romance, or Horror?
Depends on my mood, though usually not romance. Mostly though I think it would go Drama (or Dramedy), Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror, Romance.
6.) What is your biggest pet peeve?
Blogfests, blog hops, chain letters, etc.
7.) Favorite Season?
Fall in that early stage where it's cooling off and leaves are looking pretty. About November fall starts to suck when it gets all cold and dreary. (Guess what month Grumpy Bulldog was born in?)
8.) What was the first book you simply could not put down?
The first book would probably be something in kindergarten or first grade. I can't remember any of those though. So I'd say it was probably The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander. That was the type of book I loved it so much I had to go and read the whole series right then!
9.) If could time travel (without the ability to influence the past), what time period would you visit?
Probably some time in ancient Rome or ancient Greece. I've always thought that stuff was cool, especially playing the old Age of Empires game where you made armies of ancient Romans or Greeks or Egyptians or other countries and then you'd go conquer the world. That was sweet.
10.) Would you live on the moon or Mars if ever given a chance? Why or why not?
I think Mars would be better. I mean the moon is just a big gray rocks with a lot of holes. At least Mars has some other stuff going on.
11.) What is the biggest thing that scares you?
Being tagged in blogfests, blog hops, chain letters...
Now second, coming in under the transom, was Claire Fishback at WriteFish. And apparently unlike other horrible chain letters these are different questions so you can't just apply one set of answers. Let's do this thing.
1. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Probably somewhere in Europe. Do I have to specify a country or can I just say Europe? I got some peeps in England, so maybe I could go visit all those distant cousins I follow on Twitter.
2. Why do you write in the genre you write in?
Why not? You saying there's something wrong with the genre I write in? You talking to me? Are you talking to ME?
3. How did you come up with the idea for your current work in progress (or most recent work in progress)?
Well the last one I finished was the sequel to the two before it, so it was pretty easy.
4. What came first, the chicken or the egg and why?
I'm not a scientist so I have no idea.
5. How often do you write?
Lots
6. What is scariest: Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies, or other?
Since they're all fictional there's no reason to be afraid of any. So I'd say other.
7. Pizza toppings: name three of your favorites.
Mushrooms, black olives, and green peppers.
8. You're given a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble, do you a novel by your favorite author, or a how to guide on writing (such as Dwight Swain's Techniques of the Selling Author)?
I hardly ever shop at B&N anymore since I have a Kindle. If it were an Amazon gift card the choice would be between buying a Kindle book off my list or buying some MP3 albums. Presently since I have a fairly large TBR pile I'd buy MP3s with it.
9. Yes or No?
Maybe
10. If you could have any exotic or fantastical pet, what would you have?
I want my avatar Butler Blue II. Look how adorable he is!
11. Why do you write?
Cuz I can.
They didn't specify I have to tag anyone, so I won't. You can tag yourself if you want.

Quite fetching are your answers. Remember, being tagged means you're loved... Or hated. Whatever, at least people are thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteAh the Platform Campaign. Did that. All but two writers aren't even around any more. A lot of work for very little reward. YUK.
ReplyDeleteAnd Rusty - the beginning of your reply makes you sound like Yoda ;)
I'm new to a lot of this blogging stuff and I'm just becoming aware of this "tagging." When I first started reading your post I thought you'd been spray painted. Glad that didn't happen. It does seem like this is a sign of interest and it does give us, your fans, a deeper insight into your grumpiness.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along Grumpy BD! I liked you answers. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, tagged twice. I especially liked your answers for pet peeve and biggest fear. My pet peeve is the word "peeve."
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I know all about this 'tagging' malarky. The good thing, I guess, is that the authorities now know my whereabouts.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a peeve as a pet. Went to the pet shop and asked if I could get a peeve. I got a strange look and was shown the door. I said I don't want a door, I would like a peeve. Sorry, my alleged 'humour' is crap at the best of times...
I would like to live on Mars. Some would fancy Uranus. Then again, I would like to live on Pluto and reinstate it as a real planet.
Take care Grumpy and on a serious note, I thank you for your comment on my last posting. Much appreciated.
With kind wishes and what the hell, 'Great post and thanks for sharing!'
Your Bulldog is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteClaire tagged me too, so I'm having fun reading everyone else's answers. :)
Thanks for playing, Grumpy Bulldog!
